The Life and Health Compliance Association has an informative agenda planned for everyone at their “Harvest the Knowledge” themed 93rd Meeting of the LHCA in Des Moines, Iowa from October 28th through the 30th. In addition to the traditional, and very much anticipated, opportunity to submit questions in advance for discussion with industry colleagues during the meeting, additional “Special Session” topics are also planned. An Indexed Annuity SEC Rule 151A Compliance Update will be presented by Sheryl J. Moore, President and CEO of Advantage Group Associates, Inc. and Health Insurance Reform is scheduled for presentation by Bob Gunia, Senior Vice President, Physicians Mutual. I am very fortunate to be participating in this upcoming meeting as well, sharing information in yet another topical session on Stranger-Originated Life Insurance (STOLI.) This presentation will include a look at the current regulatory focus of states, a review of state activity to date, and the relationship between STOLI and life and viatical settlements. I hope that many will be able to take advantage of LHCA’s question and answer featured format, as well as “harvest” some additional information concerning key issues affecting the life and health insurance industry at the Fall 2009 Meeting.
