The AICP has a tremendous agenda planned for everyone at their 22nd Annual Conference “Rising to New Challenges” in Phoenix from October 4th through the 7th.
Seventy-four separate sessions ranging Regulator Roundtables and SERFF to Compliance Issues in the Senior Market and Extraterritoriality are available to attendees. Regulator “one-on-ones” can also be scheduled so that you can directly address your company’s concerns or simply take the opportunity to network with department staff. I am very fortunate to be participating in a panel presentation on Group Disability Income issues with Beverly Johnson from Liberty Mutual and Steve Clayburn from the ACLI. Our focus will be on current hot topics affecting this line of business such as discretionary clauses, offsets, and preexisting conditions. We will explore various impacts on insurers, employers, and employees including how to best explain the benefits of this coverage in today’s economy. Potential trouble spots for market conduct compliance will be reviewed, with a view towards some practical options. I hope that many will be able to take advantage of all that the AICP has to offer in assisting us meet the challenges of 2009 and beyond.
